Women have yet to advance their mindset to the 21st Century and I’ll Tell You Why

 In the 21^st Century women are still dependent upon men.

Women are still buying into the hype that they must get married and have babies they can’t afford to take care of especially if the baby’s daddies walk out on them.

Women still buy into the hype that they can’t exist without a man.

Women are still buying into the till death do us part as is evident that they stay with men who abuse them and their children through beatings and/or rape.

Women get married before obtaining skills allowing them to support themselves without the added salary of a man, welfare, food stamps and Section 8 forcing their children to grow up in poverty and horrible neighborhoods because they didn’t allow themselves to reach the age of maturity before getting married.

Women still marry men they settle for and not their life mates.

Women are still buying into a woman isn’t complete unless she has a man in her bed. And men know this and as long as women continue to give men power over them they will continue to remain under the thumbs of these men! For example, men still have the final say on women’s reproduction organs, how much pay they can earn in the job market, how far they can advance in corporate America, how much or how little alimony and child support they can receive, and even how to behave if they are the wife of a military officer or politician just to name a few professions. Some women are even told how to think and how to dress and they do as they are told.

I attended a party a few weeks ago and sat at a table with people I didn’t know. One woman invited another woman on an outing and the woman who was invited replied, I’ll have to ask my husband not I’ll have to see if my husband has something on the calendar for us to do. To me, this is not an adult relationship but a father daughter relationship.

Is there any wonder why women are slow in the climbing the corporate ladder? Women prove themselves weak, ineffective, dependent, and needy as long as they buy into the mindset of their mothers and grandmothers and great grandmothers.

1. We use only 10 percent of our brains.

2. “Flashbulb memories” are precise, detailed and persistent.

3. It’s all downhill after 40 (or 50 or 60 or 70).

4. We have five senses.
By the way, have you seen the taste map of the tongue, the diagram showing that different regions are sensitive to salty, sweet, sour or bitter flavors? Also a myth.

5. Brains are like computers.

6. The brain is hard-wired.

7. A conk on the head can cause amnesia.

8. We know what will make us happy.

9. We see the world as it is.

10. Men are from Mars, women are from Venus.

Most pointedly, Obama's tenure has provided an opportunity for the worst aspects of White privilege to rear their ugly head. In doing so, the continuing significance of Whiteness is made ever more clear in a moment when the old bugaboo of White racism was thought to have been slain on November 4, 2008. 

Nearly 76,000 military veterans were homeless on a given night in 2009, and close to 136,000 veterans resided in shelters that same year, according to an assessment recently released by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

When New Jersey Governor Chris Christie took office eight months ago, he hit the ground running. He wasted no time in slashing funds for education and various other public services that benefit the "little people", while at the same time giving huge tax breaks to New Jerseyans making more than $400,000 per year.

But that wasn't enough. Now he's going after women's bodies.

Christy vetoed a bill that would have provided $7.5 million for women's health clinics around the state. And, on September 20, the state senate failed to override the veto.

So is it about abortion? No. According to the Star-Ledger, "[t]he bill specifically says clinics, which provide birth control and health screenings, cannot use the money for abortions." With the abortion issue out of the picture, it's just about women's health -- low-income women's health.

America was never intended to be a democracy and it never has been; despite the lies you've been told all your life. The U.S. constitution only gave the vote to white, male landowners; even poor white males were not allowed the vote . . . and they ignored blacks, women, Hispanics, "Native Americans" and others they left out. Slowly this rule was changed until almost 200 years later in 1964 when every adult was "given the right to vote", but that's not the point. What are you allowed to vote for?

America is a country born of hypocrisy and nurtured in racism and oppression. How stupendous a hypocrite do you have to be to write a document that declares "All men are created equal" while at that very moment you have two hundred human beings chained in your back yard working as your slaves? America's political system (which was designed by these hypocrites) is no better that a shell game which gives rich people control and the rest of us the shaft.

The remarkable "Ugly Betty" ended its five-season, primetime run last Thursday night, and the TV landscape's a lot flatter for the loss. Say what you will about the ABC dramedy's quality over the past couple seasons. The show featured a cast of brown-skinned characters that were unprecedented in primetime television. The series featured smart and strong Latinas, a powerful Black woman and even an undocumented father from Mexico. Not to mention the show's humanistic handling of its gay and transgender characters. Just one of these characters would radicalize most primetime TV shows.

There are some ads that just stick with you. One that I've never forgotten was a 30 second commercial that began with a terrified blond woman wearing tight jeans, sky high heels and a bustier (it was the early 90s) and running down an alley as a chain saw wielding maniac chased her.

After discovering an unlocked door, she flung it open and: SURPRISE! All her friends were waiting with a birthday cake. And the guy she had been so desperately fleeing? Well, he followed in after her, pulled off his mask, and grinningly cut the cake with his chainsaw. As the screen faded to a Guess Jeans logo, a sultry voice informed the viewer that these jeans were wearable in any situation.

When women kill, which they don't do very often, the motive can be quite different from their male counterparts. Learn what situations make women snap, making murder feel like the only option they have.

Why men commit more murders then women is a loaded question. It probably has something to do with a natural, evolved propensity for violence needed to gain social status, resources and control over a sexual mate. Women, on the other hand, are the natural nurturers and caretakers which could make them less "hard-wired" for violence.

Americans United for Separation of Church and State today commended the U.S. Senate for rejecting a religion-based amendment to the health-care reform bill that would have limited women's access to abortion.

By a 54-45 vote, the Senate tabled the Nelson-Hatch amendment, which would have eliminated abortion coverage from insurance plans that receive federal funds, even if the coverage is paid for with private funds. The proposal, promoted by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, is similar to a controversial amendment added to the health-care bill in the House at the behest of the church hierarchy.

The Catholic bishops and allied Religious Right forces are lobbying aggressively to enshrine their doctrines about abortion in the health-care reform package.

Insurance companies discriminate on sex, class, age and race all the time. Young men pay a lot more for auto insurance. Home/renters insurance is more if you live in a poor neighborhood.

That said, women shouldn't be refused coverage. Too bad we can't get the votes for single payer. That would have fixed most of these problems.
