According to the Center for Policy Research and Planning at the Mississippi Institute for Higher Learning, blacks Mississippians earn 69 percent of what whites earn, while nationally the ratio is 80 percent. Black women in Mississippi earn 69 percent of the national median for black women, and black men 80 percent.
Meanwhile, the 2006 median household income for African-Americans in Mississippi was $21,969, a mere 51 percent of white families' earnings at $43,139. Only 26 percent of blacks had homes worth over $70,000, as opposed to 60 percent of whites.
The unequal treatment of blacks and whites in Mississippi extends to the criminal justice system. For example, the Southern Poverty Law Center reports that black children in the Magnolia State are incarcerated at twice the rate of white children, usually for low-level nonviolent offenses.

yes capt .... those who tend to disagree with liberals tend to be more uneducated.
they tend to then be gullible as a result . then there are those who are educated yet do not use common sense .
as you've proven.
then there is this to consider ...
Pathologizing Conservatism
Is it an unfortunate evolutionary holdover, or the product of bad upbringing?
Whether it be an unfortunate evolutionary holdover or a mental disease transmitted by our parents—the science is apparently still up in the air—academic researchers have surely amassed enough evidence of psychopathology that conservatism can listed in the next edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. Reasonable people, such as the distinguished academic researchers cited here, will no doubt agree that until effective treatments can be developed, we should reconsider whether sufferers of conservatism, like other mental defectives, should be allowed freely to exercise the franchise.

Researchers help define what makes a political conservative
Four researchers who culled through 50 years of research literature about the psychology of conservatism report that at the core of political conservatism is the resistance to change and a tolerance for inequality, and that some of the common psychological factors linked to political conservatism include:
* Fear and aggression
* Dogmatism and intolerance of ambiguity
* Uncertainty avoidance
* Need for cognitive closure
* Terror management

Scientists at the University of London say that conservatives have an enlarged “fear” area in their brains, and smaller areas associated with courage and optimism. The London Telegraph reports:
Scientists have found that people with conservative views have brains with larger amygdalas, almond shaped areas in the centre of the brain often associated with anxiety and emotions.
On the otherhand, they have a smaller anterior cingulate, an area at the front of the brain associated with courage and looking on the bright side of life.
The researches say there is a direct correlation between the sizes of those areas and one’s political views.

I think this whole idea that Blacks should vote for Democrats is nothing more than an insult to black people. Don't you think that the black people in Mississippi can make up their own minds about what is important to them and who they should vote for? People want to put everyone in the a convenient cubbyhole.

This article never mentioned that. Perhaps, you are confused with Georgia or somewhere else. Mississippi isn't even on the radar.
CaptainObviousSays: they have to have some intelligence if they are leaving liberal states
(chuckles) Oddly, the blackest, poorest and most federally-dependent state in America is also the most conservative state...
It helps to read, then comment appropriately rather than troll and inject venom.

try voter supression..... how low is the voter registration percentage in rural black precincts and how difficult is it for them to vote?

And, the redistricting across the nation is trending toward worsening this situation in states far beyond Mississippi.

Try adding a bunch of low self esteem to this mix. What we have is small bunch of folks, telling a big bunch of folks, in so many ways they are inferior. After a while, perhaps over lifetimes, maybe even over generations, come to believe that they'll never measure up, no matter how hard they try to do better. Depression sets in. And then people don't believe in themselves. When something really good comes along, they refuse to capture it because they have come to believe that somehow they really don't deserve it even though they've earned it. Gosh, we need to break these shackles and chains. All of them.

“Emancipate yourself from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our mind” Marcus Garvey
Most people who have listened to the music of Bob Marley will agree that his seminal work was the song “Redemption Song”. It is for this reason that most admirers of Marley are unaware that the seminal lyric in the song wasn’t written by Bob Marley but came out of the mind of the late great Marcus Mosiah Garvey.

There is a lot of the above.

Easier said then done. You can lay opportunity in the laps of some folks and they'll still reject it. Low self-esteem is crippling.
