Where did you think all the 'blacks' in the Caribbean came from?
Where did all the 'blacks' you see in typical Brazilian pictures come from?
There are far more "blacks" with Hispanic names because of the slaves the Spanish explorers made out of them.

This is something most people never think about because it's not a part of their environment and that's what makes it an eyeopener or news.

Partially true. Most of the reason was the "need" to make America feel bad about itself. The popular idea is that the "white" man went to Africa to capture slaves. It is only recently that one could tell the truth about other 'blacks' selling the tribes they conquered into permanent slavery. If you tried that during the height of the "civil rights" movement you would be severely attacked for simply telling the truth.
