A new report from the Conficker Working Group concludes that coordinated efforts to stomp out the botnet were a mixed bag: helping to thwart the worm's efforts to register Web domains that it used to spread, but failing to remove the worm from infected Windows computers.

The worst part was: our machines were patched, but it did not help us against the conficker worm at all. Secondly, we had Kaspersky and the conficker worm version we were infected with disabled our Kaspersky. So in spite of our best practices, nothing helped at all. To this day I resist networking our family's computers together. I had to completely erase 6 computers in our house, two of them had total hard drive failure.

Interesting, thanks. It is good to know that there are groups of individuals and corporates working together on this sort of thing.

Have you joined Computers and Internet yet? We need all the tech savvy people we can get!
Thank you mstanley2265 but the only thing I'm proficient in when it comes to my computer is how to turn it off and on and how to run the disk clean up and disk defragmenter. I only know the basics of using word for windows. I would be of no use to your group but thanks for the invite. However, whenever I come across these types of articles I will post them.

as a member you could post to the group, the thing is that even if you are a newbie there are a lot of newbie's out here and sometimes one will come up with something that helps someone else or spot something that helps. This is a broad general group not a tech heavy group....lol.....more like a support group for computer users :) I'll send you an invite, McSpocky started the group, I just help here and there
