For months, tensions have been growing within the Senate Republican conference over Sen. Jim DeMint's (R-SC) increasingly brash assertion of authority in opposition to the party leaders. Through his Senate Conservatives Fund, DeMint has spent millions backing tea party candidates to run against those endorsed by the GOP establishment in Republican primaries, and has asserted himself in Washington by abusing Senate rules. It now appears these intra-party tensions have come to a head.

“I personally think it’s very counterproductive,” said retiring Sen. Kit Bond (R-MO), calling the attack, “totally inaccurate.” Bond “scoff[ed] at what he and other GOP senators see as DeMint’s apparent attempts to build his national profile at the expense of his colleagues.”

Why is it the republicans only speak out when they're retiring?

Why are they so afraid of one another?

If you think "retiring" Republicans are leaving government, you need to rethink. They are not retiring so much as relocating. This movement is called personal enrichment, accomplished by freeing themselves of the bonds of ethics and regulation.

They're not afraid of one another, they're good friends. All this ado focuses our attention on them instead of on the problems the nation faces. Keep the masses distracted and talk in grand terms like "liberty" and "responsibility" and you'll get votes. And power.

DeMent... De Monet... DeWhatever... He's a resident of C Street House member of the 'Family' the group that's trying to turn the US into a theocracy. Think American Taliban. Except they have Congress members of both parties and billionaires.

They want to turn our country into Americanistan and they're starting with the Teapublican party. So there goes all the non-true-believers.

Don't let the Taliban turn our country int Americanistan. Vote this Nov. Paid for by Americans Against Theocracy.

Better Careful

DeMint wants to use his power to shut down our government based on the ideology that nobody should be making a living off our government, especially for doing nothing. DeMint and his gang will tell you that anybody making a living off our government, while doing nothing in return, is evil.

Unless it's them, of course. In their own particular cases, it's a good thing to make a nice living off our government while providing no value in return. By extension, it's even better (to this gang) to actually hurt the organization that supports you! Profit and subversion can co-exist, they insist.

Those who have such a hatred for our government should get the hell out of it, I say.

This is just another reason of many why one should be wary of a Republican take over. The Tea Party and the Republican Party will not coexist and it is obvious that the Republican Party doesn't desire becoming the Teapublican Party. This alone would lead me to believe that the Republican Party is about to fracture and once the loons are allowed to gain entrance to the hen house the chickens will start disappearing like Sharon Angle at a news conference. As they cannibalize each other we as a Nation will be even less governed and will further stagnate. Now I do realize that the Tea Party so strives for less Government but if this is how they intend to do it then we're all in for one hell of a ride.......

Both DeMint and Wilson from SC are arrogant. They have no tact and no manners, its all about me. Having been around politicians I can say it takes some arrogance and big ego to even run for office. But DeMint and Wilson are full of it. A lot of (Republican) big money has been flowing to the Tea Party and has gotten results. The money people like results. The fight becomes not for the Heart and Soul... Its about who controls the money and the message. Which on second thought is the same thing. DeMint see's blood in the water within the party and will step over and on anyone to position himself to his best advantage. The Republican party held hands with the Tea Party on Obama's Health care bill and now finds its new friend sitting at the dinner table ready to carve up the old turkey. But in order to get a lions share they will have to produce results this Election. This Election is important.

Friends do not let friends not vote! If you don't vote you cannot complain.

Frankly, I'm loving this!

Between the Republicans and the Tea Party beating each other over the head, the Republicans wandering around grumbling incoherent sound bytes, their "pledge" (a good word since they were just waxing) getting torn to shreads as soon as it was public, and now watching the Republicans tearing each other apart before our very eyes?

This is a circus worth watching. Imagine if they get any seats for power what will happen..these folks are killing each other now, wonder what they will do in November?

Murkowski starting to rip Miller a new butt, DeMint getting tossed as a Republican, out of wedlock children from a moralistic New York rightie, Delaware tea party candidate getting caught lying her face off.....I wonder if they will all politically survive until November?

And the Dems haven't even turned up the heat yet, wisely they are sitting back and letting the Right have the headlines of self destruction.
