Gay people have been accused of being unfit parents, more likely to be pedophiles, unable to sustain lasting relationships, and worse. But research shows these and other myths just aren't based in fact.

Most pedophiles are gay
The above myth is far-most the silliest.

I enjoyed the article, however the comments on the linked article are somewhat reminiscent of what we see on Newsvine :(

They always are sadly. They always are. Newsvine hasn't cornered the market on ignorance. It's everywhere.

I know, but this site is my primary source :P. I find it fascinating really.
I would call them lies then more than myths, one is pushed into a group, but individualy, much more. It's a big uphill battle with malicious gossip.
What's sad is no matter how much proof is shown the naysayers they'll continue to believe the opposite.
This is a subject near and dear to my heart because one of my dearest friends is homosexual and he's a great guy who is also successful. In high school he was popular and loved. He is honest and hardworking. He treats all his friends children like his own. He's always had my back and I'll always have his. He's never been arrested or committed a crime. He volunteers in the community and donates to charities. We have a lot of the same friends from high school and have never lost touch though we live in different states. The only different between the two of us is he believes in God and I don't.
I take it personally when people say nasty things about homosexuals because they don't know what they're talking about because my friend is like my brother, and when they speak poorly of my brother, they're speaking poorly of me.

Thanks for posting this Power!
My dad is gay, and he is the BEST (yeah, I shouted that one) father I could have ever had. Wouldn't trade him for anything. My brother is as well, and he is an amazing sweet and fantastically brilliant guy.
So, coming from a family that is 50% gay, I feel like I spend my life trying to let people know that there isn't this 'agenda' that Rush speaks of, there isn't this deviant underlying will to destroy America and convert young men and women into the gay lifestyle.
I could go on and on.
I will say that there needs to be more people like you Power, that are straight and stand up for what is right. I used to tune people out when they started with "It's an abomination." I knew they were just repeating what they had heard in church. I am now trying to take the time to gently explain why it is not an abomination.
Keep up the good work Power!

Awesome Story Erich. You keep up the good work too! Telling our personal stories and refuting incorrect information is something we all should be doing. (On any subject really, not just gay ones)

Beautiful story, ERich, thank you for sharing it with us. By the way, gently explaining is always a good road to take, some may even listen.
Thanks!
