Pickens: This is a sad accident that happened but this is, you know, an unusual case but there've been others like this so I think way too much is being made of the... of the oil that's being... that's coming out there in the Gulf. All of that will get cleaned up and we'll be back... we'll be back to normal, the world hasn't changed because of this blowout.

Given that he's also the manager of the hedge fund BP Capital, why does anyone in the media treat him as some unbiased commenter on the subject of this spill? From their site:

This is the same guy who's bought up thousands of acres of water rights; preparing for the global privatization of water. He's made his fortune in fossil fuels which have now reached it's peak, and has moved on to the next great monopoly; water.

Halliburton Presentation May Explain Horizon Oil Rig Explosion and Fire | The Seminal

Deepwater Well Objectives
• Cement slurry should be placed in the entire annulus with no losses
• Temperature increase during slurry hydration should not destabilize hydrates
• There should be no influx of shallow water or gas into the annulus
• The cement slurry should develop strength in the shortest time after placement
Conditions in deepwater wells are not
conducive to achieving all of these
objectives simultaneously

Under his leadership, Mesa grew to become one of the largest and most well-known independent exploration and production companies in the U.S.

regardless of the cause, it is now the clean-up that needs to take place and BP IS RESPONSIBLE as the owner of the rig. So mr. mckay needs to just shut his trap and open the wallet.

While driving to work this morning I was listening to Diane Rehm Show and according to her guests, we may never learn what caused the spill. I suspect chairman Lamar McKay may be just perpetuating a cover-up.

Let's hope the "transparency" kicks in. Both in and out of the Gulf.
