No. There are too many of us on the vine who have anecdotal stories about gay couples who were not allowed to see each other...even though power of attorney had been established. All it takes is one (conservative) administrator at a hospital or a court room, and that @!$%# will tie up the process until it doesn't matter anymore...causing anguish to both partners.
An acquaintance of my friend had in-laws who were so horrific that they moved his deceased lovers' gravesite without notifying him...even though he had power of attorney...even though they had no legal right to do so. But...they were rich, and they were awful. (I hope that there are special places in hell for those people.)
