"Corporations have been enthroned and an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until all wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is destroyed."
How corporations became 'persons'. The amazing true story of a legal fiction that undermines American democracy.

Perhaps if government is seen as untrustworthy it is because it has become untethered from the authority of the citizens and is for sale to the highest bidder. Perhaps what it needs is not to be further disempowered but rather to be reconnected to We the People.
At the personal level, as we face our duty as citizens and religious people our consciences are challenged by a fundamental question: Which is more important, our prosperity or our democracy?
We the People is something we no longer practice and because we no longer practice it we've allowed our politicians to view our Country as a commodity to sell to the highest bidders. And because we no longer practice We the People, we've sold our freedom.
We've allowed ourselves to become so separated and so brainwashed that we've sacrificed what we hold near and dear, our freedom.
We've become so embroiled in politicians personal vendettas and their struggles to gain wealth and power that we've allowed them to use and manipulate us like rag dolls.
When will we learn? Why can't we learn that we're in this together? And as long as we allow our politicians to detract us from what's important, our freedom and our quality of life, we'll continue to be oppressed rag dolls because we already know that our politicians are untrustworthy, don't we?
