Gavin Newsom: A Solution to Our Health Care Crisis

Politicians and pundits on both sides of the aisle are trying to make national health care reform into a game. One senator even said that defeating health care reform is about "breaking" President Obama.

It is not about "breaking" our president. Reforming our national health care system is about fixing our economy by creating competition to lower health care costs and improve care.

Health care reform is about the estimated 47 million Americans that do not have health insurance. Nearly five million people have lost their insurance since September 2008. 14,000 more are losing coverage every day -- and the situation is only getting worse.

This is not a game. This is a crisis. And as the recession continues, it is a crisis with profound implications for every city and county in America.

It's simply amazing how the haves want to keep their thumbs on the necks of the have nots. This will only stop with the have nots rise up and say no more and use their voice in the polls.

There is no way anyone can convince me that the money is not there.

I can make a penny cry so I volunteer to scour the books for waste and surplus and nonsense programs.

First, I'd strongly encouraging those 65 years and older to retire and they'd get the same retirement package as the rest of us get--social security. That'll get rid of the career politicians and the extreme career bigots. Good by Sessions, DeMint, Reid, and the rest of you clowns.

Second, I'd put a moratorium on salary raises of governors to president. Only the people can vote them raises.

Third, I'd reduce the salaries of governors to president by 60%. If I can't afford to send my children to private schools, why should I pay for politicians to send their children to private schools. If I can't live in expensive and exclusive homes in expensive and exclusive neighbors, why should I pay for politicians to live in expensive and exclusive homes in expensive and exclusive neighborhoods. If I can't afford to pay for private security, why should I pay for private security for politicians.

Third, I'd put congress and the house on the same health plan as the rest of us. Or, they can pay for their own and have the option to choose.

Fourth, I'd fire every politician who has big pharma--big business--big medical hands in their pockets.

If you're a private company, no bailout. Get the money from your shareholders.
